Hurricane Fallout
By now everyone in Florida is weary of all the tropical activity this season. A good dose of fishing is probably
what we all need. One thing that has been happening during the hurricanes of the past month and a half, is hardly
anyone has been fishing. For anglers that have been out fishing in between the storms, there was some great fishing
to be had. The offshore action on the Marathon hump has been red hot with lots of nice size Tuna along with some
Dolphin and a few Sailfish. There have been a few Blue Marlin lurking around that area also. Once the winds lay
down and the people launch their boats again, the reef fishing will be a good bet as the fish on the reef have
been virtually left alone for weeks and are waiting for the chum slicks to appear. Nice sized grouper and snapper
are likely to be hanging out on all your old favorite spots and some spots that haven't been holding fish might
be loaded now as the windy weather can move around fish and revive old spots. Bayside fishing for grouper and snapper
should prove to be excellent as well in the next few weeks. Look for a good bite on the Mangrove Snapper around
the 7 mile bridge in the coming week or so also. Keep an eye on the Caribbean however as there is still a couple
months of hurricane season to go in this incredible year of the big storms. If you do dust off your fishing gear
and get the boat out of the mangroves, you should be rewarded with some great action in the Marathon and middle
Keys areas.
Good luck in all of your fishing adventures!
